Pollyanna
The town is a small, tight-lipped one, run in practice by wealthy, stern Aunt Polly (Jane Wyman), who takes in her orphaned niece Pollyanna (Hayley Mills). Pollyanna meets the minister Paul Ford (Karl Malden) and Dr. Edmond Chilton (Richard Egan), and tells them all the same thing: even the worst day holds a reason to be glad. David Swift, working from Eleanor H. Porter's 1913 novel, wrote the script as well as directing it.
