Milo (Kit Harington), a slave turned gladiator in Pompeii in 79 A.D., wants one thing, to reach Cassia (Emily Browning), the merchant's daughter promised against her will to a corrupt Roman Senator (Kiefer Sutherland). Paul W. S. Anderson sets the arena fights and the political scheming moving together while Mount Vesuvius darkens the horizon. Milo has only the length of a bout to get out and get to her.
