Ponyo (Yuria Kozuki) is a goldfish who wants to be human, and she is loud and curious about it from the moment a boy named Sosuke (Hiroki Doi) pulls her out of the water on the cliffs above the sea. Her father Fujimoto (George Tokoro), a sorcerer, wants her back in the ocean, and Hayao Miyazaki animates the water and the chaos Ponyo makes of the house by hand. What binds her to Sosuke is simple: he found her, and he promises to look after her.
