Poor Cow

(1967)Directed by Ken Loach101 minDrama
“When two arms close around her...She knows she's home. Two arms will do. Any two arms will do.”

Joy (Carol White) marries young and has a baby with a thief, and when he is sent to prison she is left to manage alone. She takes up with his mate Dave Fuller (Terence Stamp), another thief, and for a while he gives her a little real happiness. Ken Loach, making his first feature after years in television, films it plainly and lets the cast play it as naturally as they would live it.
