Popeye

(1980)Directed by Robert Altman114 min · PGAction, Adventure, Comedy, Family
“Haves a happy holiday with me an' Olive!”

Popeye (Robin Williams) is a squinting, mumbling sailor who rows into the town of Sweethaven looking for the father who left him, and ends up with a room at the Oyl household. There he meets Olive Oyl (Shelley Duvall), already engaged to the hulking Bluto (Paul L. Smith). Robert Altman fills Sweethaven with song and crooked boardwalk shacks, and at the center of it all is a long, awkward, tender pull between the sailor and Olive.
