“Fletcher's inside story - even funnier as a film”

In a British prison in 1979, Norman Stanley Fletcher (Ronnie Barker) is a habitual offender who knows every corner of the place. Dick Clement's film brings in a new officer, Beale, who makes Mr. Mackay (Fulton Mackay) look soft, while Grouty (Peter Vaughan) starts planning an escape from his cell. Fletcher wants no part of it, and he spends his days trying to keep his head down and his sentence short.
