Port of Freedom

Hannes Kröger (Hans Albers) has traded the open sea for a stage at the Hippodrome in St. Pauli, where he sings for the crowd, until a promise to his dying brother changes his plans. He takes Gisa (Ilse Werner), his brother's former girlfriend, to Hamburg to look after her, and he is soon in love with her. Käutner sets the story on Große Freiheit, where Hannes risks his own happiness if Gisa's heart belongs to Willem (Hans Söhnker).
