Prick Up Your Ears

“They shared everything... except success.”

Joe Orton (Gary Oldman) is young and good-looking and wants to be a writer, and at drama school he finds Kenneth Halliwell (Alfred Molina), an older, quieter man who becomes his friend and then his lover. As Joe's writing starts to sell, Kenneth is left standing outside the success they began together. Stephen Frears directs from Alan Bennett's script, taken from John Lahr's biography, and keeps close to the two men as the gap between them opens.
