Daens

Father Adolf Daens (Jan Decleir) comes back to Aalst wanting to speak for the workers in its textile mills, where families live in poverty and children work the looms. Stijn Coninx follows the priest as he sides with them against the church and the town's wealthy, among them the industrialist Charles Woeste (Gérard Desarthe). Between Daens and the workers he defends stands the question of whether a priest can serve both his people and his superiors.
