Primal Fear

Martin Vail (Richard Gere) is a Chicago defense attorney who picks his cases for the money and the headlines, and a murdered archbishop is about as big as a headline gets. He takes the accused, an altar boy named Aaron Stampler (Edward Norton), and faces his former pupil and former lover, Janet Venable (Laura Linney). Gregory Hoblit builds the case from hearings and files, and each new detail about the Church makes the trial more dangerous for everyone in it.
