Prisoner of the Mountains

“An extraordinary story of hope, courage and humanity.”

Sacha Kostylin (Oleg Menshikov) is a hardened Russian soldier in the Caucasus who has seen enough of the war to expect little from it. He and Ivan (Vanya) Zhilin (Sergei Bodrov Jr.), a recruit barely into his uniform, are taken by Abdul-Murat (Jemal Sikharulidze), a villager hoping to trade them for his captured son. Sergei Bodrov puts the two prisoners in the same locked room, and the older man's wariness meets the younger one's open curiosity.
