Private Detective 62

(1933)Directed by Michael Curtiz66 minCrime, Drama, Mystery
“It's a pleasure to have your home wrecked by a man like him.”

Why does a government man disavowed in France end up working the cheapest detective agency in America? Donald Free (William Powell) is deported home after a failed assignment, and the only job open to him is at that low-rent firm. Michael Curtiz sends him toward Janet Reynolds (Margaret Lindsay), a woman tied to a crooked gambling club owner, and Free has been hired to frame her in a scandal, which puts his livelihood and his conscience on a collision course.
