“The Raw, Shocking Movie Of A Pop Singer Who Makes It Big!”

Steven Shorter (Paul Jones) is Britain's biggest pop singer, and nearly the whole country screams for him. He is also a puppet, steered by a government that uses his fame to promote whatever it wants the public to believe. Peter Watkins films the adoring crowds with a handheld, newsreel grain, and the painter Vanessa Ritchie (Jean Shrimpton) sits with her canvas, watching him.
