Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher

“The birth of boxing.”

Jem Belcher (Matt Hookings) is a young bare-knuckle fighter at the turn of the 19th century, when pugilism was the sport of kings and a gifted boxer could climb from nothing to champion of England. Daniel Graham puts him under the trainer Bill Warr (Ray Winstone) and beside his grandfather Jack Slack (Russell Crowe), a drinker who knows the ring. The fame comes fast, and Jem, still in his twenties, has to carry it.
