“The connection is virtual. The danger is real.”

Amy Whittaker (Valene Kane), a freelance journalist behind on her rent, wants a story big enough to get her back on solid ground. She builds a fake Facebook profile as a Muslim convert to see how ISIS recruiters draw in young women, and Abu Bilel Al-Britani (Shazad Latif) soon writes back. Timur Bekmambetov keeps everything on Amy's laptop screen, and she keeps typing, one message at a time, long after her editor tells her to stop.
