In 1948, customs officer Mehdi (Kemal Sunal) is sent to the southeastern Turkish village where the new border with Syria must be drawn, straight through his own hometown. Sinan Çetin sets a darkly comic story among neighbors, families and lovers who wake up on opposite sides of a line.
