“The Ultimate Head Trip”

Jennie (Susan Strasberg), a deaf runaway, steps off the bus in Haight-Ashbury looking for her brother, a bearded sculptor the whole street calls The Seeker. A band called Mumblin' Jim hides her from the police in a Victorian crash pad full of love beads, and Dave (Dean Stockwell) agrees to help her search. Richard Rush filled the film with real bands, and the search shows how little a scene built on free love had to hold anyone to a promise.
