“A new and altogether different screen excitement!”

Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) has stolen money and needs to disappear, so she checks into the Bates Motel on a remote highway. The proprietor, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), is polite and lonely, eager to talk in his office while his mother's voice carries down from upstairs. Hitchcock traps her there, and by the time Marion realizes what Norman is, she has nowhere left to run.
