Debbie Vickers (Nell Schofield) and Sue Knight (Jad Capelja) are two teenage girls in the Sutherland Shire, south of Sydney, working their way into a new crowd of surfer boys. Bruce Beresford, adapting the novel by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey, puts them on the sand and in the car parks, where the boys surf and the girls watch. Debbie wants in so badly that she keeps saying yes to things she doesn't like.
