Punishment Park
“One of the most controversial films ever made.”
In a fictional America, the prisons are full and Nixon has declared a state of emergency. Antiwar protesters now get a choice: serve long sentences, or spend three days in the California desert, hunted by police and National Guardsmen. Peter Watkins sends a British and West German film crew in after both sides, and the young defendants and the officers hunting them keep talking to the camera and to each other.
