Purple Rain

“Before he created the music, he lived every bit of it.”

The Kid (Prince) fronts the Revolution at a Minneapolis club, where the crowd is loud and the stage is the only place his anger has anywhere to go. At home he listens to his parents fight, and he meets Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero), a singer new to the scene, just as Morris (Morris Day) starts circling his spot on the bill. Albert Magnoli films the concert numbers at full volume and cuts to the quiet house between them.
