Quatermass and the Pit

(1967)Directed by Roy Ward Baker97 minScience Fiction, Horror
“World in panic! Cities in flames!”

Workmen digging out a London Underground station uncover a strange object in the clay, and Dr. Mathew Roney (James Donald) is called in to look at it. Professor Bernard Quatermass (Andrew Keir) is drawn into the dig as the military moves in under Colonel Breen (Julian Glover), and the people near the buried thing start acting oddly. Roy Ward Baker keeps the film in the dust and noise of the dig, so the dread comes from the work itself.
