Queen Margot
“She was the wife of a king… and the lover of a soldier.”
Paris, August 1572, and a wedding is meant to hold off a religious war. Margot (Isabelle Adjani), a Catholic princess and sister to the feeble Charles IX (Jean-Hugues Anglade), is married off to Henri de Navarre (Daniel Auteuil), a Huguenot king she does not know. Patrice Chéreau fills the court with candles, velvet and plotting, and the marriage becomes a thing she and Henri have to work out between themselves.
