“The bank robbery was easy. But getting out of New York was a nightmare.”

Grimm (Bill Murray) wants out of New York, and the plan he has built to do it starts with a clown costume and a Manhattan bank. He and his girlfriend Phyllis Potter (Geena Davis) and his friend Loomis (Randy Quaid) pull off the robbery without a hitch, then find that getting to the airport is the hard part. Howard Franklin and Murray, who share the directing credit, treat the city as the real obstacle, a place that doesn't want to let anyone leave.
