“To protect and serve the living.”

Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds), a Boston cop, is shot dead and then recruited by the Rest in Peace Department, an afterlife agency that hunts souls who dodge judgement. His partner is Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges), a lawman from the Old West who has been dead a very long time and has no patience for a rookie. Robert Schwentke sets the two chasing a conspiracy that traces back to Nick's own murder, while they bicker over every case.
