“Not just a story, a world.”

Nobody in the villages knows what to make of Beera Munda (Abhishek Bachchan), a bandit leader who is worshipped by some and hunted by the police. Mani Ratnam sets him against Dev Pratap Sharma (Vikram), the policeman who killed Beera's sister, and Beera answers by kidnapping Dev's wife, Ragini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). He took her to hurt one man, and he is not prepared to find himself bound to her.
