Raggedy Man

Nita (Sissy Spacek) is a divorced mother raising two boys in a small Texas town during World War II, working nights at the telephone switchboard to keep them fed. When a Navy sailor, Teddy (Eric Roberts), turns up on shore leave and the two start spending time together, the town begins to talk. Jack Fisk, making his first film as director, keeps the camera close to Nita's house and her switchboard and lets the gossip circulate around her.
