Rain

“A woman without shame. A woman without soul.”

Sadie Thompson (Joan Crawford), a prostitute on her way across the Pacific, is stranded at Pago Pago when a possible cholera outbreak forces her ship's passengers ashore. The rain never lets up, and among those waiting it out is the missionary Alfred Davidson (Walter Huston), who takes her reform as his personal task. Lewis Milestone follows Sadie as she pushes back, loud and unashamed, with nowhere to go.
