“Rainbow Brite lights up the screen in her first big movie.”

The planet Spectra is going dark, and Rainbow Brite (Bettina Bush) rides her horse Starlite to stop an evil princess before she takes the whole place. The sprite Orin tells her the princess can only be beaten if Rainbow joins her own powers with someone she doesn't get along with. Murky Dismal (Peter Cullen) and his bumbling helper Lurky enjoy the gloom and keep trying to steal her color belt, so Rainbow has to work with a partner she'd rather avoid.
