Rapture

(1965)Directed by John Guillermin105 minDrama, Romance
“Curiosity. Infatuation. Awakening. Love. These are but the stepping stones to rapture.”

The Larbaud farm sits in Brittany, in 1965, a lonely place where Agnes (Patricia Gozzi), a teenage girl, lives with her father Frederick (Melvyn Douglas). Joseph (Dean Stockwell), an escaped convict, turns up there, and the two of them take him in. John Guillermin follows the attachment that grows between Joseph and Agnes, which her father moves to stop, and the film treats first love as a feeling that costs more than it gives back.
