“He Was A Magician. A Madman. A Savior And Seducer....”

Grigori Rasputin (Alan Rickman) is a wandering Siberian peasant who arrives in the Russian court in 1912 with a gift for easing the pain of Alexei, the young Tsarevich and heir to the throne. Uli Edel stages the story among the palaces of Tsar Nicholas II (Ian McKellen) and Tsarina Alexandra (Greta Scacchi), and Alexei narrates it himself. Rasputin has four years in that household, and the nation's war and unrest press in around him.
