Rasputin: The Mad Monk

(1966)Directed by Don Sharp91 minHorror
“Ladies' Man - And Lady Killer!”

Grigori Rasputin (Christopher Lee) is a monk who wants the Russian court, and he starts with the women who serve in the Tsar's palace, working his will on them one by one. Don Sharp opens on a night at a local inn, where Rasputin takes a drinker's hand with a blade and leaves the locals bitter and planning revenge. Under all the candlelit excess, the film is about how one man's hold on a few people can spread until it governs a country.
