(1970)Directed by Theo Angelopoulos100 minCrime, Drama

Yannis Totsikas plays Hristos Gikas, an immigrant who comes back to his mountain village after years abroad and finds no one waiting for him. His wife Eleni (Toula Stathopoulou) and her lover kill him, and an investigator tries to rebuild the crime step by step while a film crew records the effort. Theo Angelopoulos, in his first feature, shoots it in grainy black and white, the villagers standing in the doorways and watching.
