Red Joan

“To change the world, she betrayed her country”

In May 2000, Joan Stanley (Judi Dench) is a quiet elderly woman in London until the British Intelligence Service arrives at her door and accuses her of passing information to Russia in the forties. Trevor Nunn cuts between the interrogation room and her younger self (Sophie Cookson) in the war years. Her memories keep returning to Leo Galich (Tom Hughes), the man whose pull on her she has never been able to explain.
