Red Psalm

In the 1890s, farm workers on the Hungarian plains walk off the land and go on strike, and the landowners answer with soldiers. Among the strikers are Petkó Szautner András (István Bujtor) and Nagy Mária (Andrea Drahota), who sing and move together in the open field rather than speak for themselves. Miklós Jancsó stages the whole standoff in a few long, circling takes, so the crowd keeps rearranging itself around the soldiers without a cut.
