“There's always a way out. You just have to find it.”

Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor) teaches jiu-jitsu and refuses to enter competitions, believing a contest weakens the fighter who takes part in it. After he rescues the action star Chet Frank (Tim Allen) from an attack, the film industry opens a door, and the offers come with a prize fight attached. David Mamet keeps Mike in his quiet academy, his belts and his students, and the dusty mat is the last thing he has left to stand on.
