Repast

Michiyo Okamoto (Setsuko Hara) moved to Osaka after the war for a marriage she hoped would be enough, and now spends her days on the same small chores for a husband, Hatsunosuke (Ken Uehara), who barely looks up. Then his young cousin Satoko (Yukiko Shimazaki) turns up, running from an arranged marriage of her own. Mikio Naruse sets the visit inside the Okamotos' cramped house, where Michiyo has to decide how much of her own life she can still call hers.
