Respiro

Grazia (Valeria Golino) is a mother of three on Lampedusa, married to the quiet fisherman Pietro (Vincenzo Amato). One day she is laughing and swimming half-naked in the sea, the next she lies curled on her bed. Emanuele Crialese watches the family from within the island's small circle of neighbors, who talk about sending her away to a facility in the north when she cannot hear.
