Return to Dust

“An unlikely love story.”

Ma Youtie (Wu Renlin) is a quiet farmer whose own family has cast him off, and he is paired by arrangement with Cao Guiying (Hai Qing), a timid woman her family has also sent away. Li Ruijun sets their marriage in rural Gansu, where the two have to build a home and live off the land season by season. The film is about people nobody wanted, and the plain work of making a life with whoever is beside you.
