Jake Ferris (Dolly Parton), a country star, brags that she can turn anybody into a singer, and she gets taken up on it when she picks Nick (Sylvester Stallone), a New York cab driver. He is booked to sing at a big country nightclub in the city, so she has to get him ready in time. Bob Clark films it as a loud, bright musical comedy, with Parton and Stallone at the center of every number.
