Richard III

“I can smile, and murder while I smile”

Richard, Duke of Gloucester (Ian McKellen), has helped his brother take the English throne, and he wants it for himself. Richard Loncraine moves Shakespeare's play into a 1930s Britain and casts the scheming hunchback as a fascist, working through the royal court one person at a time. The one he ties closest to him is Lady Anne (Kristin Scott Thomas), whom he deceives into becoming his wife.
