Rio 2096: A Story of Love and Fury

“My heroes were never turned into statues. They died fighting against the ones who were.”

Abeguar (Selton Mello) is a warrior who cannot die, and for six hundred years he has loved the same woman, Janaína (Camila Pitanga). Their story moves through four stretches of Brazilian history: the colonization, slavery, the Military Regime, and Rio in 2096, where a war is being fought over water. Luiz Bolognesi puts one love story inside five centuries of conflict, and the animation carries it from one era to the next.
