Ripley's Game

Why would a cultured man in a Veneto villa, with a harpsichord-playing girlfriend, Luisa (Chiara Caselli), decide to turn a stranger into a killer? Tom Ripley (John Malkovich) is asked by Reeves (Ray Winstone), a Berlin underworld contact, to help kill a rival, and he chooses Jonathan Trevanny (Dougray Scott), a picture framer dying of cancer. Liliana Cavani lets the two men circle each other across the film, one amused and one cornered.
