Rita, Sue and Bob Too

“Thatcher's Britain with her knickers down”

Rita (Siobhan Finneran) and Sue (Michelle Holmes) are teenagers on a run-down Bradford council estate, best friends who babysit together for Bob (George Costigan) and Michelle (Lesley Sharp). One night Bob drives them home the long way, up to a deserted stretch of countryside. Alan Clarke films Andrea Dunbar's script as a comedy, and the film makes plain how little these girls have been offered, and how little anyone around them bothers to notice.
