“Reckless, Roaring, Adventure of the Great Northwest Gold Rush Days!”

Matt Calder (Robert Mitchum) is a farmer fresh out of prison, hauling his young son Mark (Tommy Rettig) through gold-rush country, when a raft pulls up carrying a saloon singer, Kay Weston (Marilyn Monroe), and the husband she is trying to find. Otto Preminger shot it in the Canadian Rockies. Everyone on that water is chasing a person who has already left, and the real trouble is that none of them can say why.
