Road to Nowhere

“Illusion is the first of all pleasures.”

Mitchell Haven (Tygh Runyan) is a filmmaker who wants to make a picture out of a true crime, and he thinks he has found the right face when he casts Laurel Graham (Shannyn Sossamon), an unknown young woman who looks eerily like the femme fatale in his script. Monte Hellman follows the production from North Carolina to Verona, Rome and London. Mitchell keeps looking at Laurel as though she were the case itself, and the line between actress and woman starts to blur.
