A man is still alive inside the machine OmniCorp builds from a dying Detroit cop, and no one at the company planned for him. In 2028, the conglomerate sells its drones overseas but cannot sell them to American police, so Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) sees his opening when Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is critically injured. José Padilha follows Alex as Dr. Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman) rebuilds him, while his wife Clara (Abbie Cornish) waits for the man she knew.
