A new boss has taken over Bigweld Industries, and the robots who can't afford new parts are the ones feeling it. Rodney Copperbottom (Ewan McGregor), a young inventor, takes his gadgets to Robot City to work for his idol Bigweld (Mel Brooks), only to find Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear) running the place. Chris Wedge packs every frame of the city with gears, pipes and chrome until it feels like one enormous machine.
