In a future run by corporations, the world's one sport is Rollerball, a violent game played on a banked track. Jonathan E. (James Caan) has been its star for years, and Bartholomew (John Houseman), a corporate executive, wants him to retire. Norman Jewison sets Jonathan's refusal against the men who own the game, and each match he plays could be his last.
