In New York in 1984, Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) writes wild romance novels from the safety of her apartment. Then a package arrives, the ransom for her abducted sister, and she flies to Colombia, boards the wrong bus, and ends up stranded in the jungle with Jack T. Colton (Michael Douglas). Robert Zemeckis keeps the whole thing moving at a run, the comedy and the danger tumbling over each other.
